Harewood House, near Leeds

Harewood House is located near Leeds, West Yorkshire.  Here you will find tours of the home, Upstairs and Downstairs – two different fees.  Outside is free of charge and you can visit the bird gardens, and the penguin display.  Then enjoy afternoon tea in grand style on the terrace. You can bring a picnic with you – picnic benches are available. It is a bit steep walking around the gardens, so be prepared if you are visiting with elderly relatives.

This home was built by John Carr and Robert Adam, between 1759 and 1771 (Harewood House website).  It was built for a wealthy plantation owner, Mr. Edwin Lascelles – who was the first baron of Harewood.
